This class is designed to complement the tactics of entry teams. Topics covered include
identifying circumstances escalating to the use of deadly force; When to hail and when to
breach; Dangers of meth lab entries, Decontamination, and developing pre-raid briefings and
protocols. Methamphetamine labs present dangerous obstacles that require specific training,
equipment and protocol development. MERIT addresses these issues in the Meth Lab Entry
Training Program. This program is designed for existing, tactical entry teams. The training
includes eight hours of classroom and eight hours of practical hands-on training. MERIT
strongly suggests that officers complete the Methamphetamine Recognition and Investigation
Training prior to attending the Entry Training, but it is not a prerequisite.

program will detail how to properly report a meth lab and how to identify the effects of
methamphetamine on children and their parents. In this class Child Welfare Officers will be

subjected to in meth labs, and how to recognize items used in the manufacture of
